We're Loving Frugi

A Bit of Background on Frugi

In 2004 Lucy and Kurt had their first baby, Tom. All the baby clothes in the world seemed to be designed for smaller, disposable nappies when they were trying to do their bit and use cloth ones. The only solution, they decided, was to make their own baby clothes, using only ethically manufactured organic cotton, and sell them to other people experiencing the same problem. Their business was born.

The clothes were a triumph and with things going so well, Lucy and Kurt decided to extend the range. They started making organic kids clothes, and after their second son was born Lucy realized how rubbish her nursing clothes were so they introduced some breastfeeding wear too. Frugi clothes now range from 0-8 years including an award winning collection of breastfeeding wear for mums!

The brand name Frugi, means ‘fruits of the earth’ in Latin. Their clothes are packaged in fully compostable bags, and sent to customers in compostable potato sacks. You can quite literally put all the bits of packaging from a Frugi parcel on a compost heap and let it rot away! Each year Frugi give 1% of their turnover to charity through the 1% for the Planet scheme, this year they are supporting The Bumblebee Conservation TrustThe Woodland Trust and Cornwall Wildlife Trust. They also support an orphanage in India by money made from sample sales. More about the ‘Good Stuff’ Frugi do can be found here.

Frugi Reviews Organic Surge

Helene, marketing assistant at Frugi, vegetarian lover of wombats and nature, reviews our Daily Care Face Wash -
"I discovered Organic Surge a while back whilst searching for a new facewash in that well-known chemist whose name is also a type of footwear (you know the one!). As an animal lover it’s really important to me that the products I buy aren’t tested on animals, this was proving tricky, it seems many companies have forgotten about our furry friends and cruelty free products are few and far between! So I was very happy to discover Organic Surge’s Daily Care Face Wash, not only was it not tested on animals it was organic and paraben free...yippeee!

After using the facewash religiously every day I can honestly say I’ll never use another facewash again, it smells amazing, lathers up really well, gets rid of makeup and leaves my skin feeling fresh, clean and silky soft. It also lasts forever! Well maybe not forever but you certainly get your money’s worth out of a bottle! Altogether a flippin’ fabulous face wash!"

Stephen, e-marketing executive at Frugi, artist and organic veggie grower, reviews our Fresh Ocean Shower Gel -
"One thing I try to avoid when it comes to shower gels is coming out smelling like a fruit basket or sweet shop and thankfully this offering from Organic Surge is certainly to my liking. I tried their ‘Fresh Ocean Scent’ which contains essential oils from Organic Lemon, Lime and Rosemary. Thankfully this selection packed plenty of ‘refreshing’ power without the afore mentioned fragrance issues and like the claims of a well-known washing up liquid a little goes a long way!

I’m not particularly ofay when it comes to shower gel ingredients but the list, coupled with the products own brand credentials gave plenty of confidence. All in all a worthy addition to anyone’s bathroom shelf."
